Happy Mother's Day!

“The most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral - a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body. The Angels have not been blessed with a such a grace. They cannot share in God's Creative miracle to bring new Saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creatures. God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation. What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?” -- Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty
It is not only in the bearing of a child that our creative connection to God exists. As the Domincan Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist so beautifully expressed, "Woman’s soul is fashioned to be a shelter in which other souls may unfold..."

Whether you have borne a child, are raising a child, or simply provide shelter for souls to unfold in countless other ways, happy Mother's Day to you. May the Blessed Mother provide for you always a model of perfect nurturing and surrender, her mantle provide comfort and rest, and her intercession lead you straight into the heart and arms of Christ.

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Rest assured I do read each and every word, but please forgive me if I don't get back to you right away. The toddler tugging on my leg and the one year old pulling my hair may have seized control of my typing abilities. Blessings on your day!
